This "master gland" is able to detect variations of the earth's magnetic field and use that information to locate geographical directions (north, south, east, west) and determine seasonal cues (the earth's magnetic fields changes daily and seasonally).25 In one study, researchers removed the pineal glands of pied flycatchers, a type of migratory bird. A subset of the birds received melatonin supplementation while the other birds did not.
Certain strains of bacteria orient themselves to the earth's magnetic field. They have been shown to contain microcrystals of magnetite, a black mineral form of iron oxide. Particles of magnetite are the smallest magnets occurring in nature. Small crystals of this magnetic substance are present in the brains of certain animals that require the ability to orient to the earth's magnetic field, such as homing pigeons, bees, and migratory fish.7 Researcher J. L. Kirshvink and his colleagues discovered magnetite in human brain tissue cells in 1992.
As British researcher Jane Thurnell-Read explains in Geopathic Stress, this abnormal energy occurs "when the earth's magnetic field is disturbed, either naturally or artificially, and the background field we normally experience is changed."18 Artificial disturbances can be produced by mining, foundations for tall buildings, subways, and public utility pipes, such as for sewers and water, says Thurnell-Read. European research indicates that if you work or, especially, sleep over an area of geopathic stress, you may get sick from continuous exposure to this abnormal energy.
The best way to comprehend gauss is to consider that the earth's magnetic field is 0.5 gauss, and a refrigerator magnet is approximately 10 gauss. The intensity of electromagnetic devices such as computer monitors and electric ranges are often described in terms of milligauss (thousandths of a gauss) and sometimes hertz. Studies have shown that EMFs of less than 300 hertz and more than 2 milligauss can disrupt melatonin production. The pineal gland is sensitive not only to light, but also to magnetic fields.
Magneton Therapy or Bio-energetic Acupuncture You will have learned at school about the earth's magnetic field and the pull of the North and South Poles. And, like most of us, you probably have not thought too much about it since. But perhaps magnetic therapy can improve asthma. Magneton therapy is currently having quite an impact, being used to treat a variety of ailments, from various respiratory conditions to painful conditions, as well as fatigue, dizziness, eating disorders, and insomnia.
The fMRI machine creates an extremely strong magnetic field (estimated to be about thirty thousand times the strength of earth's magnetic field) and then fires radio waves at the patient's body, which affect the orientation of the proton biomagnets, causing them to transmit at a particular frequency. The fMRI machine then uses mathematical calculations and other techniques to construct a hologram of the body part that the machine has scanned. The fMRI machine may, in fact, be medicine's first holographic instrument.
Although the earth's magnetic field usually deflects it, this gale can penetrate our magnetic field during moments of intense solar activity. Sunspots—vortices of concentrated magnetic fields, visible to us as dark blobs on the sun's surface—begin to accumulate and then to disappear in fairly regular cycles, so that scientists can make some predictions about when the sun is likely to erupt. A solar cycle of waxing and waning activity occurs, on average, every eleven years. As sunspots build up, so does the sun's aggressive behavior.
Small crystals of this magnetic substance are present in the brains of certain animals that require the ability to orient to the earth's magnetic field, such as homing pigeons, bees, and migratory fish.7 Researcher J. L. Kirshvink and his colleagues discovered magnetite in human brain tissue cells in 1992.8 It occurs in linear chains of up to eighty crystals, often attached to a membrane. Magnetite crystals in human hippocampus Magnetite microcrystals have been linked to our ultradian and circadian rhythms.
Storms in space transfer some of the energy of the solar wind to the Earth's magnetosphere, causing wild fluctuations of direction and speed in the particles in the earth's magnetic field. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which tracks these volatile space weather patterns, reckons that over any given solar cycle, geomagnetic storms in space will occur about a third of the time, and almost half of them are severe enough to interfere with modern technology.
ELF and VLF radiations could enterthe earth's magnetic field and change its structure. A combined cumulative electromagnetic field slightly stronger than Earth's own primal signal may lead to increasing incidence of previously harmless conditions, namely: Reye's Syndrome Appeared in 1963 with severe vomiting after flu or chickenpox, to lethargy, personality changes, convulsions, coma, and death. Initially high mortality, now 10%, but with increasing incidence. Lyme Disease Insect-borne causing severe arthritis in recent years (SEE alphabetically).
Light affects a photo-receptor mechanism in the retina independent of vision, a neurochemical connection via Rhodopsin to mitochondria to the pituitary and the pineal glands, and other mid-Brain areas controlling the entire endocrine system, by light and earth's magnetic field influencing our biological clock, circadian rhythms, the production and release of dozens of hormones and neurotransmitters for glandular functions, body chemistry and emotions, or their suppression (SAD disease, etc.) when deficient.
Some people feel that one of the causes of jet lag is that we fly too quickly through the earth's magnetic field. Research using Schuman resonance pulsing devices to create a constant magnetic pulse in air travel has found that they decrease the incidence of jet lag. The author tries to spend a certain amount of daily time exercising barefoot on the Earth. It is a force of Nature about which we would benefit by having more knowledge. For example, recent Russian work on geomagnetic energies has shown that the growth of children varies with the geomagnetic area in which they live.
Earth's magnetic field, a fewmilligauss, and may generate 10 kilovolts per meter, or about 1 kv. per meter inside the human body, being the largest ELF 60 hz. antenna in the world (500,000 miles in the U.S. alone). High-current home wiring more than doubled fatal chi Idhood leukemias, lymph node cancers and nervous system tumors.
At best, this could afford only a partial explanation for homing, Sheldrake asserts. The earth's magnetic field is far from uniform but varies from place to place depending on the underlying rocks. These magnetic anomalies may be a few yards or hundreds of miles across. In addition, the earth's magnetic field is not constant but fluctuates daily. Even if pigeons could somehow correct for these anomalies, the earth's magnetic field would give no information on movements in an east-west direction.
Magnetic Field Deficiency Syndrome (MFDS) of Calcium ion deficiency and headaches, dizziness, muscle aches, pain, tiredness, constipation, and insomnia; from the gradual decrease in earth's magnetic field, and body-shielding by steel buildings and cars, leads to allergic and auto-immune dysfunctions. All cells resonate with the basic primordial energy ofthe universe, positive love energy, life-force prana or chi; transceivingthe subtle universe energy able to penetrate any material substance, and restore healing circulation to blocked tissues whereby cell life-force stagnates and dies.
In addition, the earth's magnetic field is not constant but fluctuates daily. Even if pigeons could somehow correct for these anomalies, the earth's magnetic field would give no information on movements in an east-west direction. It is widely assumed, however, that scientists have proved that birds migrate and pigeons home according to an internal magnetic sense. This is not true. Sheldrake has examined all the experiments done to evaluate this possibility. They give conflicting data and cannot be replicated by the scientists who initially performed them.
It is healthier if the earth's magnetic field is not distorted where we sleep. The needle should continue pointing north everywhere over the bed. Metal beams in the wall or ceiling can cause the same problem, and the bed should be moved far enough away from magnetic field disturbances. Ground any metal parts, such as window frames, metal wall claddings, or roofing iron, that show an unacceptably high reading when touched with one hand while holding the grounded probe in the other.
These include sunlight, color, the earth's magnetic field, and the electric field between the ionosphere and the ground. Sunlight actually is a combination of electromagnetic energy and bioenergy, and in this way we receive most of our bioenergy from the sun. Electromagnetic Energies Protect yourself from the harmful effects of electromagnetic radiation and make sunlight your friend. Strong electric fields of about 50 cycles per second (hertz, or Hz) are harmful to us.
Wollin also found that planetary temperature changes over the last several hundred thousand years precisely mirror changes in the geomagnetic field intensity; when earth's magnetic field is stronger, Wollin noted the world climate is colder. Wollin reasoned that the only agency that could produce these sudden changes in geomagnetic field intensity would be either changes in the strength of the Sun's magnetic field or in the strength of the solar wind, which earth's magnetic field funnels down onto the magnetic poles.
As we noted above," the human body has composite and localized magnetic fields, as low as 1 x 10"9 gauss, or about one-billionth of earth's magnetic field. Studies in New York and Colorado show incontrovertible links between exposure to low-frequency extremely weak electromagnetic fields—from high-voltage power lines, for example—and the onset of cancer, particularly childhood leukemia.
The origin of the earth's magnetic field is poorly understood at the present time. magnetic field reversals Changes in direction or orientation of the magnetic field of the earth that have occurred from time to time. Sometimes the north magnetic pole is near the geographic North Pole and sometimes near the South Pole in Antarctica. The causes of these reversals are not known, but at least several hundred of them have happened. magnetic north The direction of the north magnetic pole. magnetic pole The spot on the earth toward which a compass needle will point.
Simply stated, magnets perform a wide range of benefits because we are magnetic beings who derive energy from the earth's magnetic field. Bucci explains, "One reason we get sick is that the earth has lost a good deal of its magnetism which leaves the body in an unbalanced state. Additionally, we are bombarded by unhealthy energies." Magnets create overall benefit by restoring internal harmony. It is important to realize that any old magnet will not do. The negative pole restores health and good energy to the system, while exposure to the positive pole is detrimental.
Biometeorology is an expanding science that's making surprising biomedical connections between atmospheric effects and specific biological responses, such as the advent of winter and chronic depression, cold fronts and asthma attacks, hot weather and aggression, solar activity and the earth's magnetic field fluctuations and heart attacks. Biometeorologists are finding that our behavior, mood, and health may be much more intimately connected to the vagaries of the weather than we suspected and that the weather itself may be highly responsive to solar, even cosmic, electromagnetic influences.

That is, healers may actually increase both local and distant coherence in earth's magnetic field itself. The power of this organizing effect is proportional to the energy of a given healer and to how many healers might be working together in unison. When healing is done in a group, there is an important amplification effect that is more exponential than arithmetical in nature. That is, two healers produce a much more powerful energy effect than if their individual energies were simply added together.
Weak magnetic fields (about 1 x 10"9 gauss, or about one-billionth earth's magnetic field) have been detected in the human body and surrounding individual organs. Beginning in the late 1960s, scientists began documenting magnetic readings emanating from the central nervous system, the skull (with neuromag-netic waves of about 10~8 gauss measured at the scalp), heart (in normal subjects, about 1 x 10"6 gauss), and lung. While Earth's EMF is about 0.
Wollin reasoned that the only agency that could produce these sudden changes in geomagnetic field intensity would be either changes in the strength of the Sun's magnetic field or in the strength of the solar wind, which earth's magnetic field funnels down onto the magnetic poles. Through careful plotting and study of atmospheric and geomagnetic data, Wollin determined that changes in atmospheric pressure reliably occurred five days after magnetic field changes.
The gauss is a measure of magnetic field strength. The earth's magnetic field strength is about 0.5 gauss, relatively large compared with the magnetic fields generated by electrical appliances, but smaller than, say, the field surrounding an ordinary toy magnet.) Measurements made with gaussmeters are generally very reliable, and some utilities offer free measurement services. Several states have conducted studies to measure the health effects due to power lines. The most extensive was a five-year $5 million study called the New York State Power Lines Project.
Modern planes also fly many intercontinental routes, passing close to the poles, where the earth's magnetic field concentrates the charged particles beaming down from outer space. Cosmic radiation is most pronounced during solar storms. Solar activity peaks every eleven years; the most recent active period began in 1989. A passenger flying during a single solar flare can receive as much radiation as someone who takes one hundred normal airline flights— enough for a pregnant woman, during just one flight, to exceed the maximum monthly radiation limit for the fetus.
If we can produce a ripple effect of healing energy upon the waters of humanity's collective unconscious, it will be carried by the flowing stream of earth's magnetic field and gridwork systems. Thus, we may be able to build a rising tide of driving harmonic resonance and coherence. An energetic tidal wave of healing energy, fueled by the power of unconditional love, might transform our planet in a way that could only have been dreamt about in past times. The major difficulty lies in transforming ourselves first.
